Vertikal’s Guide to Forklift Training and Licence Requirements
Forklifts are heavy pieces of machinery and if involved in an accident it can cause damage and injuries. it is therefore essential that Forklift Drivers are trained to legally operate it in a safe manner and use all safety precautions.

The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) state that it is the employers responsibility to ensure that workers who manage equipment have received sufficient training to do so. The machinery must be safe to use, maintained and in safe condition, and regularly inspected.
Relevant forklift training would include:
- The skills to operate the forklift or any other machinery involved
- Understanding any risks associated with using the equipment
- Precautions to take where needed
Benefits to Forklift Training
